Douglas B. Rosentrater passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was 69.
Doug was born in West Virginia. He graduated with his Master's from Northwestern University. Doug met his wife while he was pursuing his doctorate at the University of Hawaii. They married in 1972. After living in many locations, including Florida, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Illinois, Doug and his family settled in Bucks County, Pa. in 1989, where they lived for 25 years before he and his wife moved to Philadelphia to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Doug was a college professor at Bucks County Community College. He served as chairperson for BCCC's Department of Communications from 1989 to 1994. In 2013, Doug retired from BCCC after teaching full-time for 24 years and continued on a part-time basis.
Doug was a man who passionately pursued many lifelong interests. He loved to travel the world; research history, cultures, and religion; acquire antiques; be an educator as well as a student; and spend time with his family. He was an extraordinary speaker who enjoyed giving speeches on these topics at classes, conferences, spiritual gatherings, and family events.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Kai Mei Rosentrater; his children, Scott C. Rosentrater (Rosana), Jennifer R. Gerney (Garrett), and Shannon R. Cunningham (Ryan); and his grandchildren, Cyrano, Olivia, Sabrina, and Emmett.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Doug's Celebration of Life from 2 p.m. until the funeral service at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro, PA 18954. Interment will be private.
