The tailor Rosentreter, who lives in Wahrduppen, and his wife, née Link, son Karl Friedrich Ferdinand, were born on October 17th and were baptized on Wednesday, October 30th, at 11 a.m. on the day of prayer and repentance. Godparents were the shoemaker Rosentreter, a grandfather of the child, who also held the child; the miller Mey; the wife of the blacksmith Braun from Goldingen, née Rosentreter and aunt of the child. Birthplace was Várdupe, Latvia about 10 Km's South of Kuldīga - Vardupe (German Warduppen) Snēpele Parish, Latvia https://www.raduraksti.arhivi.lv/objects/1:4:11:2055:2413:20486#&gid=1&pid=53 In the year 1834 Ferdinand Rosentreter, copper smith from Warduppen (born) was made a citizen (Bürger) of Goldingen. He now carried this title in the birth records of his children as well. Means he had to pay Bürgergeld (a special tax) and has to the right to vote for the town leadership. Probably had to own a house too.
