- Paul was born on February 4, 1931 in Schlopp, Germany, to Isaac Rosentreter and his wife. At the start of the war, the Rosentreter family escaped to Shanghai, then sent Paul to Belgium on a Kindertransport in 1939. He lived with a Dutch foster family in Antwerp. During the invasion of Belgium in May 1940, the foster family took Paul and fled to France, where they left him in the care of the Belgian Red Cross in Paris. The Red Cross, assuming Paul was Dutch, sent him to the Netherlands to live with two different foster families in Den Haag. Paul was then sent to the Jewish Orphanage in Den Haag on June 18, 1941. Due to the trauma he'd experienced, he had developed some behavior issues and caused a lot of trouble in the orphanage, so he was then sent to an institution for mentally handicapped Jewish children in March 1942. The institution was collectively deported to Auschwitz in January 1943, and Paul was one of the victims, being murdered upon arrival on January 25, 1943. He was almost twelve years old.
