Gottlieb, as he was known, married his first wife, Johanna Louise (maiden name not known at this point) in Germany. Gottlieb and Louise Rosentreter immigrated to Texas in 1873 where they settled in Washington County, Texas. After the death of his wife in 1882 from cancer, Gottlieb Rosentreter married Louise Schwarze on January 22, 1883, in the St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, Washington County, Texas. Six children would be born to them; five of whom would live to maturity. ****************************************************************************** OBITUARY FROM THE BRENHAM BANNER PRESS: G. ROSENTRETER OF ZIONSVILLE PASSES AWAY Gottlieb Rosentreter, an aged resident of the Zionsville community, passed away Tuesday night, aged eighty-six years, and funeral services will be held at one o'clock Thursday afternoon with the Rev. Carl Mueller of the Zionsville Lutheran church officiating. Decedent was born in Germany, but came to this country when quite young, and had resided in this county for many years.
