Ferdinand Zettler was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Germany. He came to America with his parents in 1879. Ferdinand Zettler was confirmed April 10, 1892, at Zion Lutheran Church in Zionsville, Washington County, Texas.

OBITUARY FROM THE HAMILTON HERALD NEWS:
F. Zettler, 80, Born in Germany, Is Buried Sunday
Funeral services were conducted in the Bob Riley Funeral chapel at 1:30 Sunday afternoon, followed by further rites in St. Paul's Lutheran church at Shive, for Ferdinand Zettler, 80, of the Shive community; Rev. F. L. Bracher, pastor of the Shive church, officiated at the rites.
Zettler, a native of Germany, died in his home about 3:30 last Friday afternoon following an illness of several days. He had been in this country since 1879, when his parents came here from Europe. He was married to Annie Rosentreter, who survives him.
In addition to his widow, Zettler is survived by two sons, Carl Zettler of Hamilton, and Walter Zettler of Clifton; four daughters, . J. W. Wagner, . Minnie Jeschke, . Emma Bubert, and . Pauline Peters, all of Hamilton; one brother, John Zettler, also of Hamilton; 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the Shive Lutheran cemetery. Pallbearers for the rites were Robert Kelm, Paul Kelm, Robert W. Kelm, Willie Kelm, E. W. Bosse, and Otis Schwartz.
