He immigrated on 7 Aug 1894 to Fall Creek, Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He worked for his sister Sophie and her husband August Carl Dehnke for a year before moving to Nebraska to live next to his brother Gustav Herman Rosentrater from Brady, Lincoln, Nebraska and his uncle Michael Rosentrater from Arnold, Custer, Nebraska. Otto and Minnie bought a farm half way between Elsie, Perkins, Nebraska and Paxton, Keith, Nebraska.
